Education

University of Delaware - Newark, DE

2012-present

In college I studied English and Interactive Media with a concentration in Professional Writing. I graduated in the spring of 2016 with an Honors Degree with Distinction. My GPA was 3.6 (3.8 in my major), and I have been on the Dean's List every semester since Spring 2013. I successfully defended a senior thesis pertaining to cross-cultural communication in professional writing, a continuation of a research project I conducted this past summer though UD's Summer Scholars Program.

Danish Institute for Study Abroad - Copenhagen, Denmark, Spring 2015

During the Spring 2015 semester I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I took classes on cross-cultural communication, the creative industries, and civic technology. As part of my core course I traveled with my Cross-Cultural Communication class to Belfast and Dublin to study Irish-British and Catholic-Protestant relations. It was during this semester that I truly discovered my love for travel and digital story-telling, and I maintained a blog while I was there.

International Literacy Association - Newark, DE

February-May 2016

I completed a communications internship during the spring semester of my senior year with the International Literacy Association, an organization devoted to literacy and education around the world. I edited and fact-checked all articles in the March/April and May/June issues of Literacy Today, the organization's print magazine, as well as wrote two magazine articles ranging from 800-1200 words. I wrote several blog posts, conducted five interviews with organization leaders and literacy academics, and composed social media posts for Facebook and Twitter. Lastly, I assisted the editor-in-chief with a long-term project, helping compile and select the candidates for the magazine's annual 30 Under 30 list from a nominee pool of 100.

Sampsonia Way - Pittsburgh, PA

June-August 2014

During the summer after my sophomore year, I interned with Sampsonia Way, the online magazine of Pittsburgh's City of Asylum. I edited and fact-checked dozens of articles pertaining to literary free speech, human rights, and other political and social issues, as well as conducted an interview with a published American researcher and writer. The largest project I undertook was transcribing a series of interviews conducted with Pittsburgh-area refugees about how they got to America.

UPPER ST. CLAIR TODAY - Upper St. Clair, PA

June-August 2013

My first internship was with UPPER ST. CLAIR TODAY, the community magazine published in my hometown. During my time here I researched and wrote two articles for the Winter 2013 issue. One was an extensive interview with a local music teacher, and the other was a piece about the high school's student exchange program with Germany. In addition, I assisted the editor-in-chief by editing and fact-checking the rest of the articles in the magazine.
